I may be wrong about that. If Knopfler and Jeff Beck can play without a pick, who am I to tell someone that they need to start playing with one. Then I’ve listened to it hundreds of times, and the tone, phrasing, and melody are on a whole other level. I’ve always been as much a fan of Knopfler’s songwriting as I am of his playing and I will admit that the song itself is not one of his better ones, I sometimes think the only reason it made the album is because the solo is so damned amazing!
