I just needed to write this out I guess. I can barely get the words out. There’s a guy who has had several cats that have lived to be older than 30, including the oldest cat in recorded history. No joke, once a week he gives them a tiny bit of red wine. There are scientists studying his cats and his methods for caring for them to figure out if that’s actually doing something. They’re not encouraging people to start giving their cats wine just yet though. He also turned his garage into a cat playroom which has a projector that shows wildlife documentaries which he says keeps their minds active. It’s entirely possible the wife is a little put out by OP cracking down on/complaining about her spending while thinking she should be able to take a trip alone if she feels like it.

I get that OP basically became an inst-parent as well as a spouse and would like a break, but, well, that’s not always how it works. You can still have a life, yes, but sometimes you have to forgo “fun” stuff on your own/with your friends. Look, newlyweds. You guys need to work all this stuff out.
