I like to do back step lunges which definitely gives me more of a hamstring workout than the other way around. However, they are great for both, not just one over the other. IMO lunges should be a I’m Going To Hell In So Many Different Religions Except Mine Cause We Don’t Believe In That Shirt. I’m currently cutting and experimenting running UHF 5 Week, but not 5 days in a row (my life is too busy to have dedicated days). Sometimes, e.g., I will train 3 on, 1 off, 2 on, 1 off, but I let my life dictate the rest days (sleep plus fatigue plus busy-ness, etc…I also know my body reasonably well). In short, it’ll probably take 6-6.5 weeks to run the full program instead of 5. I’m hoping you can give more insight as to how to adjust volume, intensity, and frequency (and AMRAPs?) and how to better plan for weight gain/loss time periods.

FWIW, I ran The Rippler while in a slight deficit (life stress caused some. Weeks of gain, so it was almost a straight maintenance couple of months) and it was very manageable. I’m basically training 4-4.5x/wk with UHF now. So overall volume and intensity is likely comparable. What are your general guidelines for how to train on a cut vs maintenance vs bulk? Is one (or more) of your programs better suited for cutting? If so, why? Based on your workload being varied I’d say you could manage. So good. So happy. Thank you so much. Ok.
