I wanted to check out this album by Ramirez (someone I’ve never heard of before seeing this post/comment) and holy shit brah. It was an amazing front to back. It wasn’t trappy or beats made to be catchy. It’s rap with instrumentals that all have substance. So refreshing to hear something like this. I came back to this comment to personally Thank You!

The whole thing is great front to back but Lane Switching. Hunnids. Gold Thangs & Pinky Rings. Lead Shed. The Fo Five. How bout you? What else have you been listening to? Out da way and tales from the gutta are great. The chorus is out da way is gorgeous. That album is hella good but sounds pretty different from a Nice Black Dads Proud Black Father Dope Black Fathers Shirt. The whole ‘i no longer fear the razor saga’ is probably their most accessible shit and has some of the scrims’ best production. The Ramirez album is unbelievable. I’m only on like my 4th listen, but I think it might’ve already dethroned She Already Decided as my favorite project this year. I’m not very good at describing music and I’ve only listened to two of his projects, this one.

But for this project specifically, I would say it has a very classic sounding west coast, g funk type style with like a modern feel to it tho. It has this really nice gradual transition where it starts of kind of slow and melodic and starts to shift into grittier, faster beats over. Son of Serpentine I haven’t listened to in a while, but I remember the whole thing being more on the grittier/darker style with more of a Houston feel to it than the west coast. That explains why the album has heavy West coast vibes. I’m not a fan of West Coast hip hop normally, but this shit is different.
