We are purchasing property and I’m planning to buy Nice UTV Don’t Follow Me I Do Stupid Things Vintage Shirt and a 4-seat UTV to take people around the property, tow a log splitter, pull a trailer for brush and tree work, etc. I’d like the kids to be able to drive around with their friends. But I’m concerned about the decision-making abilities of early teenagers, especially when they are with their friends. Ideally, I’d like to find a keyed governor switch where the default is a lower speed limit (TBD) but when I’m using it. I turn a key to remove the limit. Is this crazy talk or does something like this exist?

I’m starting to research an alternate for an electric power wheel for my 5-year-old son to drive. I would obviously prefer one with a roll cage and the ability to put a limiter on the top speed without sacrificing get-up-and-go by just limiting the governor or throttle cable. It would also be nice for it to be a side-by-side so the 3-year-old sister could ride along as well. I’ve seen 6 years old, the old guy owned, garage kept ATVs in mint condition. Then I’ve seen a two-month-old top of the line RZR that race then beat to ever-living shit by a flock of kids. You really gotta inspect the rig before buying.

Do you guys know of anything out there? Obviously, I would install a remote kill switch and do all the proper safety procedures. I’m in the same boat as you at the moment. The kids are getting too big for their power wheels at the farm and the battery just doesn’t hold much of a charge anymore. I was looking at getting the Ranger 150 for them, and be given their ages next spring. Does anyone have any experience driving these in agricultural fields?
