In fact, the definition of “qualified” often doesn’t exist or is lenient, reducing the quality of faculty. Then there’s lots of waste and extravagant spending, because why not. Also, your tuition goes to one or more overpaid executives rather than outcomes for your children. Let’s not talk about the curriculum, which isn’t always well planned or seamless across the grades. They don’t have to meet any standards, as far as I understand. I work my ass off as a public school teacher and one of my friends who had no teaching experience got a full-time job at a private school. They just told him to teach. No guidance. Just teach psychology. I was like wtf??? Also, where’s our distance Official Harvest Neil Young Shirt? Where’s our hazard pay if we go back? My three closest friends got degrees in psychology, wildlife biology, and computer science; of the four of us, I’m the only one NOT teaching. All three of them teach in private schools.
