The art and mini quality are ALL over the place, some models look great, others look completely terrible and don’t fit tonally with the others at all. Being marketed as an improvement over MD1 (which was fairly notorious for its poor balance and rules), but then having the exact same issues that plagued MD1, is a bit disconcerting. I had kind of assumed that it was going to be grid/hex-based, but this version has some potential issues. But you don’t have the option of retreating to use items or positioning yourself to avoid certain monster moves. But with this, you could easily just use standees or even cards. More so, outside of the “cool” factor, what is the point of using miniatures with this system?
