I don’t mean to rant. I can elaborate more but I just think there is a huge difference between the chronically homeless and the “down on their luck” homeless. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them drink. I also go to university in a much larger city than my home town. The area around my university is overrun with homeless camped out on the street despite having access to help. Then it’s really a nice shirt for all men and women. So you should buy this shirt. Many of them are sex offenders or otherwise have a long criminal history. They steal from both students and local businesses, but the police do nothing about it. They literally have a policy of “catch and release” no matter the crime. I worked with this population as well, many of the chronic homeless would get a free room or apartment and then get themselves kicked out damaging the property and using them as a drug den. We really need a more compassionate society that helps with mental health and homelessness before they deteriorate more. After all this time it’s still hard for me to walk by someone homeless.
